Tobermory
Famous for its gorgeous shoreline and emerald waters, Tobermory sits at the Bruce Peninsula’s northernmost point. Board a scenic glass bottom boat cruise around the channel, rent sea kayaks or take a ferry to Manitoulin Island or Flowerpot Island from one of the two harbours.
Find adventure on land at nearby Bruce Peninsula National Park, with numerous trails, scenic viewpoints, including the popular Grotto cave and rock formations and various beaches.
Where is Tobermory?
The town of Tobermory sits at the very northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula. It is located roughly 100 kilometres from Owen Sound and about 300 kilometres, or approximately four hours’ drive, northwest of the Greater Toronto Area.
The surrounding region is best explored by car. Note that Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been installed in the area at select local accommodations for visitors travelling in electric vehicles.
Tobermory can also be reached by boat, most notably via the MS Chi-Cheemaun which sails from Manitoulin Island from May to October.

View shipwrecks from a glass bottom boat
View a 19th-century shipwreck on a glass bottom boat tour from Tobermory’s Blue Heron Cruises. Excursions through Fathom Five National Marine Park are available throughout the summer.
Visit a historic lighthouse
Dating back to 1885, the Big Tub Lighthouse played a key role in guiding ships in and out of the harbour during the age of sail.
Enjoy delicious tacos
Stop in for a visit at the Tacomory taco truck located on Highway 6 on the way into town for freshly made tacos, burritos, nachos and more.
Camp in a National Park
Set up camp in Bruce Peninsula National Park and spend some time hiking the rugged landscape, swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Georgian Bay and relaxing by a campfire.
Explore the Grotto
One of the more popular things to do in Tobermory, a hike to the Grotto and Cyprus Lake area offers incredible views of natural rock formations, along with ancient caves to explore.
Learn how to scuba dive
Thanks to incredibly clear water and an abundance of shipwrecks, Tobermory is known as a global hotspot for scuba diving. Beginners’ lessons and rentals are available during the summer.
