More about Angus Glen Golf Club
The club was built on the Angus Glen Farm, originally owned by mining magnate Arthur Stollery. Stollery raised Black Aberdeen Angus cattle and champion thoroughbreds on his farm but dreamed of turning the land into something more. His son Gordon saw that dream to fruition in the late 1990s by turning the farm into a golf course.
When the South Course opened in 1995, it was named the best new golf course in Canada by Golf Digest. The North Course opened six years later in 2001.
Angus Glen Golf Course is the only club to have hosted a major PGA tour event on both of its courses, the Canadian Open was held on the South Course in 2002 and the North Course in 2007. The club was also the golf venue for the 2015 Pan Am Games and the World Junior Girls Championship in 2019.
The club’s standout feature is the two 18-hole championship golf courses. The South Course is made up of classic fairways, while the North Course’s fairways include jagged, peaky, fescue-covered dunes and many sod-wall bunkers.
Par for both courses is 72, but each course also features several sets of tees so that golfers have their choice of difficulty depending on skill.
Golfers should note that Angus Glen does not allow metal spikes on either of their courses.
In addition to the two 18-hole courses, Angus Glen Golf Club offers practice facilities and a driving range. A small bucket of 35 balls at the driving range costs $7.50, while a large bucket of 70 costs $12.50.
Inside the clubhouse is a Nike Pro Shop. Along with an array of apparel and equipment, the Pro Shop also has a full-swing golf simulator that can be rented by the hour.
For anyone who works up an appetite during their round of golf (or anyone who wants to stop by), the Silo Grill is the perfect spot for a bite to eat. Patrons can choose to dine inside in the dining room or outside on the patio, both of which offer incredible views of the pond and the 18th hole. With a constantly changing seasonal menu and a special brunch offering on the weekends and special holidays, Silo Grill is a favourite of casual visitors and avid golfers.
Need to touch up your swing? Along with having professional instructors on-site with whom you can book private lessons, Angus Glen Golf Club offers adults and juniors various golf schools, camps, and teaching series during the spring and summer months.
The clubhouse at the Angus Glen Golf Club has space for all kinds of events—the conference rooms can seat up to 600 professionals at once, while the beautiful outdoor gardens are frequently used for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
