Brantford is a city with a rich cultural and sporting heritage. It is known for the achievements of two extraordinary individuals—Alexander Graham Bell, who created the telephone in Brantford in 1874, and Wayne Gretzky, who was born here in 1961 and went on to become a legendary hockey player.

The city is also called “The Tournament Capital of Ontario” owing to its long tradition of hosting hundreds of local, regional and provincial tournaments annually.

Brantford is an exciting city with a host of natural attractions, sports events, cultural venues, family-friendly activities and a lively downtown.

Where is Brantford?

Brantford is located in southwestern Ontario along the Grand River.

It is approximately an hour's drive west of Toronto via Highway 403. Those travelling from north to south or vice versa can reach the town via Highway 24. Visitors can also travel by VIA Rail to Brantford Station or use GO Transit.

John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton is the closest airport, located 35 kilometres west of Brantford.

The Bell Homestead National Historic Site is the birthplace of Alexander Graham Bell and his famous invention, the telephone. It also includes a museum, cafe and year-round tours.
