Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park

Jungle Cat World is a family-owned and operated wildlife refuge and zoo in Orono that cares for several varieties of big cats, including cougars, tigers, lions, snow leopards, and jaguars. The park also features free-roaming animals such as rabbits, alpacas and donkeys.

Get up close with the animals through interactive exhibits and educational programs, which emphasize treating all living creatures with respect. This big cat sanctuary in Ontario supports conservation efforts through its registered charity, the Endangered Species Fund of Canada.

How to get to Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park

Location: 3667 Concession Road 6, Orono

By car: Located just north of Orono, Jungle Cat World is approximately 100 kilometres east (a one-hour drive) from downtown Toronto via Highway 407.

By transit: GO Transit and VIA Rail provide service to Oshawa. From Oshawa, find a local taxi or take the Durham Region Transit 902 and 507 bus to the Main Southbound and Milson Hill intersection.

Know before you go

Purchase tickets online or at the wildlife park’s front desk. Special events like the Behind The Scenes program require booking and payment in advance via the online reservation system.

The park is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Outdoor food is allowed in the park, but please don’t feed the animals.

Interesting facts about Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park

Formerly called “Orono Exotic Cat World,” Jungle Cat World Wildlife Park was established in 1983 and is home to over 150 animals.

The park has evolved from simply displaying exotic animals for recreation to taking a more active role in educating visitors on wildlife and conservation.

The park’s Safari Zoo Camp is accredited as a member of the Ontario Camps Association. In 2011, this camp was recognized as one of the top 10 greenest summer camps in North America.

Accessible drop-off location

Passenger drop-off is available by an  accessible entrance. 

Accessible entrances/exits

A sufficiently wide, hard surfaced,  unobstructed path, no steps or equipped  with ramp connecting to a public  entrance or exit and identified by signage.  Automatic door openers, adequate  manoeuvring room in front of door.

Accessible parking

At least one identified, reserved parking  space with a safe, clearly marked  accessible route from the designated  parking area to an accessible building  entrance.

Accessible washroom

An accessible washroom stall has  adequate manoeuvring room for mobility  devices. Includes grab bars, transfer  space, accessible door latch, sink with  knee clearance, and lever handles or  automatic sensor faucets. 

Support persons welcome

Support persons are welcome to provide  services or assistance with  communication, mobility, personal care,  medical needs or access to facilities.  Please check with the organization about  entry fees, if applicable.

Wheelchair accessible

Unobstructed path through public  hallways that are wide enough to allow  people using wheelchairs and other  mobility devices to move easily through  the building.
