Enjoy the wonders of nature at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, a 6.4 sq km forest landscape through which the Bronte Creek runs. The park is a go-to for local and visiting hikers, bikers, cross-country skiers and campers, and its large, outdoor swimming pool is a hit for everyone in the summer.
Bronte Creek Provincial Park is located at the western edge of the town of Oakville. It is divided into two activity areas: the day-use area and the camping area, each with a separate entrance. The camping area can only be accessed through the gates at 3201 Upper Middle Road West, while entrance to the day-use site is located at 1219 Burloak Drive.
The park is approximately over 25 km from Hamilton and approximately 47 km west of Toronto, which is just over half an hour drive along the Queen Elizabeth Way.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park offers a variety of year-round recreational experiences that visitors of all ages can enjoy. Families and novice campers alike will delight in the park’s four campground loops that accommodate large to medium-sized RVs, trailers and tents. Each campground area has its own electrical hookups, water taps, laundry facilities, comfort stations, playgrounds and access to hiking trails. There are also roofed yurts available to rent for visitors without their own camping gear.
Hikers will enjoy the park’s many nature trails and resplendent flora and fauna. Walk, bike, and rollerblade along the paved, wheelchair-accessible Maiden’s Blush Trail, or push a stroller through the Trillium Trail and show little children the wonders of wildflowers. More adventurous hikers may want to try out the Ravine Trail that traces the top of the valley within the park or explore the park’s early history on the Halfmoon Valley Trail. Anglers can also visit the creek along Halfmoon Valley Trail and reel in rainbow trout, pacific salmon, splake, and steelhead.
Avid bird watchers can also sit back among the park’s open fields to observe the many species of birds that frequent the area. Over 190 species of birds call Bronte Creek Provincial Park home. Young animal-lovers also adore the park’s Discovery Program. The Nature Centre offers live exhibits and aquariums and terrariums filled with local reptiles, birds, fish, insects, and amphibians, while the Red Play Barn lets children acquaint themselves with many of the resident barn animals. History buffs should visit the Spruce Lane Farmhouse in the day-use area to learn about fruit farmers’ lives at the dawn of the 20th century.
Bronte Creek Provincial Park is an ideal summer destination. It is home to one of Canada’s largest outdoor pools. Shaped like a pond and designed for careful wading into the 2 metre deep centre, visitors can enjoy a swim to cool off in the sweltering heat. In winter, visitors of all ages can enjoy sliding down Bronte Creek’s toboggan hill or traverse the trails in snowshoes or skis.
Nearby, visit Fourteen Mile Creek Trail or head over to the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park for spectacular views of Lake Ontario. Visitors can also explore downtown Oakville, which has retained its old-fashioned charm with quaint village shops, restaurants, museums and art galleries.
